With this model can IV still claim to be a non-profit organization? It seems you are exchanging information in return of cold hard cash? :p
Being a non-profit does not mean everything is free. Even some of our profession's organizations are non-profits and they want subscription to even login to their site. We are being very generous and providing everything for free and we will continue to do so to provide free access to immigrants on our site. Only a small donor area is for donors so that such members can have easy access to information and admins.

IV is looking in the right direction in the long term.
IV, sure is looking at a long term solution. I did not criticize that strategy. IV should continue to work for a permanent fix.
Currently for IV, this long term fix is the #1 priority. I was suggesting that IV should make the long term fix a #2 priority. And make #1 priority as improving efficiency at USCIS.

My request is ..
All postings on IV should identify the user as contributing member or a Free User.
That change will help IV to increase Funding ..
I will sign up for monthly recurring to IV if I see above change ..
You can add your contribution details to the signature. Remember, all the IVans are not paid for volunteer work. If you have time, please feel free to write the component compatible with joomla, paypal and google-checkout to implement this. We need to focus our energy on the action items, which will bring the benefit to immigration community through the bills that are in table.

i had run these numbers a while back. for sure EB2 will reach the end of 2005 this year. i just hope its done systematically so that they clear everybody with an EB2 2005 PD this year.

In one another post - VLDRao was saying these companies does the tax filing on behalf the emoloyee, get the refund and again claim that tax in india using double taxation aoivdance treaty.

Do all agree that "bridge bill" is the only real helpful measure for us? Or you can show us some other ways?
I mean let's set at least one goal!
After that we can establish what we have, and how we can make it real.
Anyway, it might be quite difficult to organise such a work group, because the majourity of schedule A are outside the US, and on CP... But we all have our emploiers and attorneis who could help us to lobby our interests in the US.
What do you think about it?
My wife is a RN just passed her NCLEX from Texas. She studied in US. Looking for a sponsor. Asked one of them and they replied there is no H1 for Nurses, you have to be a BSN to be sponsored. Time is bad for nurses after Schedule A quota is over.

for some it is money, for others it is about taking care of parents etc.
for me it is all about where I would like to live, grow and bring up my child. to me the answer is very clear. while this country is not perfect, no country on this planet is. if a human makes an objective list based on quantifiable pros and cons, the decision is very easy to make.
as for stuff like "I miss my parents" that is not quantifiable and should never figure in the discussion. what is the guarantee that you can return to your home country and live in the same city as you parents do? what happens if your kids don't want the grandparents to interfere in their lives? what happens if you cannot take constant interference from friends and extended family?
my reasons may come across as cold and calculating. however, it is an inhospitable world we live in and it is up to us to provide the best possible cocoon for our immediate family and that is exactly what I intend to do.

This thread falls off the radar so quickly and other threads with EAD, AP, H-1B etc. keep popping up every second. I know all those things are important as well but if you pause and think about the big picture, this funding drive is very important as well. So, please buck up and contribute! :)

guys! who have those documents/letters being sent can you have a scanned copy of these documents/letters so that others can just download them and attach them with their email instead of cut copy paste and format. May be the administrators can have file/document section some where on the site so that people can grab the documents and send out to whoever they want to

Concurrent filing can be done by anyone with approved Labor Certification. Schedule A applicants already have pre-approved LC.

I am RN from Moldova, waiting for DS230 approval since October 2006.
Are there anyone in the same situation?
It seems to me that no one care about nurses on this forum. So I decided to highlight the problem briefly.
Why should nurses have their personal immigration schedule and different faster line?
1 - The shortage of nurses is more severe then ever in the US history. The fact is confirmed by DOS, The American Hospital Asociation, and the Coalition to Improve Healthcare Staffing.
2 - Existing mechanisms are not able to improve the situation, Vice versa, the situation is going to be vorce in the near future.
3 - Healthcare is one of the most relevant aspects of national economy, because it affects all other spheres of the economy.
4 - The preimmigration qualifining process for nurses is long, expensive, and complicated. Aproximately 2 - 3 years (CP or CES, NCLEX-RN, IELTS, or TOEFL+TSE) long, and $5000 - $7000 cost. If we add these 2-3 years to the period of immigration we will have outstanding 5 - 9 years of waiting! And we should bare in mind that this is the only way for nurses.
5 - From the last 50000 visas for Schedule A only 17000 were used by nurses and PT, other were used by their spouses and children. So the actual number of nurses intered the US is realy small.
The situation is critical!
As far as I see the problem, the only choice for us is allocation of visa numbers(recaptured or new) directly for schedule A. All other options are not good enought either for nurses or for the US Healthcare, because now we are in EB3 and have to compete with other professionals in the respective category. So we have to wait for 4 -5 years to get our CG. And practicaly, as I mentioned above, the GC is the only option for nurses, because emploiers do not want to sponsor us for a non immigrant visas.
Actually nurses have the H1c visa, but there are only 500 a year and only 14 hospitals in the whole country can apply for these visas. In suport of the view they are totally chaotic: RIR here, priority date is in April 2002, 45-day letter was received & replied to in February 2005 (15+ months ago), heard nothing from them since then. Lawyer started process for 7th year extension.
