Just mailed out letters to nine more radio/tv/news media addresses in Texas that AILA media site didn't allow email for. I hope USPS will deliver by tomorrow??

HSBC denied my refinance application because of EAD status. They said EAD is not one of the statuses they accept. They needed either H1B or GC status. I lost my $325 rate locking fee, not sure what else my real estate attorney is going to charge me because of this denial. I am in the process of talking to other banks.

Everyone can apply until August 17, but in the August VB, all the categories are U, which means no one is current and who knows when that will change. When processing, theoretically RD it's important, but when you get to the stage of being approved, you'll actually be approved only if your PD will be current at that time. Don't count too much on any guidelines, because some people get approved in weeks,others in years. Good luck.

Now add in the fact, that by crude luck you get your Green Card in 10 months and I get it in 10 years, how do you think that it is fair on my part?

To be fair - India definitely has a competitive K-12 system because they are not all public schools (for free) like here. So the people who do get into IITs and RECs already have an edge.
Having said that - the Indian college education like Gayatri said is not as rigorous as it is here (and I am NOT talking about the IITs).
People pay a lot to go to college in the US and hence are generally more serious about their education. Fact is, a plumber can also make a good living here without a college degree. Its only those who can pay and are interested go to college. Ethical issues like copyright/plagiarism are also taken more seriously here and students are trained in critical thinking.
In all I think both nations have good and bad. I have to READ Wadhwa's report to understand what he is trying to convey. All I heard was 'apples and oranges and pineapples' from his talk.

My point - I am going to take things in a stride, basically wait till I can - doesn't hurt me as long as I go about my daily routine.
All who are thinking of jumping the fence and giving up, one piece of advice - if you do not have kids and plan to have any in this life, please do it NOW - have them be born here (all of them) and then move on with whatever / wherever you want to go.
At least this is a gift you will be giving your kids for their lifetime and all the generations following them (remember - a US citizen's kid can be a US citizen no matter where he/she is born) - so you will be arranging US citizenship for all your great^n * grand * kids (0 <= n <= infinity) !
This is how I think about it when I do not think about MYSELF. Once the kids are born, you can flaunt their American Passports and feel happy in their well-being and security (for whatever it is worth) and move on to Canada / India / Singapore / wherever! Live happily.
And do not forget your kids can sponsor you when they are 21.

A cut-off date avoids submission of AOS applications with PD after cut-off date. In my opinion, this was the only reason to retrogress on July 2: avoid AOS submission whose PDs became current in July.
Now nearly all AOS applications have been submitted. Hence, setting cut-off dates conservatively is not that motivating.
If let us say 20,000 visas were unallocated in 2007 and USCIS realized that on the 28th of September, 2007, they still wont be able to use up those 20,000 visas. Because the priority dates were pushed back so far that there probably isn't that many applications that have completed the fingerprinting and name check stage. So, we have another reason to believe that USCIS may not be able to use up all the visa numbers just because of the priority dates (even if they worked throughout the weekend).

Don't expect anything from Nebraska Service Center today. Somebody from site who live few minutes away from NSC said that the parking lot at NSC is empty today. Yesterday, she saw that it was full from 7 to 12 nn but was empty in the afternoon.
What we can expect is only automatic LUDs. No overtime work for NSC. Have they used up all the FY2007 visas? They must have....if not, this fact can be used against them when we file a complain.
Its interesting to find someone 'tracking' the NSC parking lot this weekend!!:D

6. I cant wait for my FP notice
7. I always go to snail mailbox and hope i got something immigration related
8. I call my friends and guess what we end up talking about? immigration matters
9. I'm jealous of people who have gotten their greencards
10. I cant get this Greencard off my mind!!!!

Folks,
I sent the email with almost similar content as the hardcopy letter we are talking here and CC 'ed the email to USCIS-COMPLAINT@DHS.GOV as well.
My Subject was : "Complaint about Unfair and Haphazard EB3 I-140 handling at Nebraska(NSC)"
Also i just noticed that USCIS account where i CC'ed came back with a "Out of Office Autoreply" and in the out of office message they said its an inactive account - blah ! blah !.... which gives me a feeling someone is definitely reading the account and its pretty much active but just to avoid burden of replying emails they utilized ( rather mis utilized) the feature in a very Naive manner.
Did anyone else received any reply - i'll post if i receive any reply.
By the way - How about dropping a email to Ombudsman as well , saw in another thread that this approach worked ... TSC and NSC 140 sufferers can put Subject as TSC and NSC accordingly.
