I agree! I would't invest in India either. I believe awareness about these facts will save atleast few folks from being duped of hard earned money.
You need to have proper knowledge of the market to invest anywhere. Most of the things you have stated make it clear that you have never been a real estate investor.
I think you missed a chance by not investing in India through 2001 to 2005.Money has doubled tripled and there are buyers who can afford to buy in Tier 1 cities. Those are not the EMPLOYED people but the SELF-EMPLOYED ones.
Study the market carefully and make sound decisions whether India or anywhere but dont make comments based on some analysis.
Also,Investing is an ongoing exercise, whether Real estate,Stocks. you cannot just wake up one day and say I want to invest in Indian real estate. You need to build a portfolio similar to the way you do for Stocks. Start with a some research and a small investment. My suggestion is to join a group of people who are already doing some Real estate investment and go along with them. Just reading someone else's comments and coming to a conclusion is not good. Do more research ,Invest time, Wait for the right opportunity.

You have some more in other science related disciplines like TIFR (not sure if they give M.S. degree).
I did not see MS in any discipline.
They had PhD CS also; my friend got PhD from there.
They also had something like a CS diploma (don't remember details). They had 10 (??) theoretically sound courses. Students in most US schools will not be able to handle these courses.
However, course content is not the only strength of US Education (all levels). Something else (which is hard to enumerate and quantify) happens outside the classes. But it does not happen to everyone: some are not receptive and others don't run into it!

Not really, your I-485 information has to be put in the system first.
If I am first in the list, base don the claculation, I will get it in 5 minutes,Thats true, the last person will have to wait for 20 months:)

I am glad to see sked A here. I have been following this forum for a long time now and there is nothing for healthcare prof though the discussions were very helpful. As I can see it, the july VB put benefits on those going through AOS but as a result those whom I know who are scheduled for interview in their home countries in AUg. was cancelled.
That is sad news!! I can just imagine how they feel, after waiting so long! Anyway lets hope something positive happens for the Oct bulletin.
A hospital I know is SO short of nurses they are offering them GREAT incentives to take on extra shifts. I mean it is an ACUTE shortage.

I know this is not the Forum to discuss this matter.
But I hope this should answer some questions
1. Home Loans if the Loan is taken from a US Bank/Mortgage lender
then it is Tax deductible because they send out a 1040 at the end of Tax year.
2. But if the Home Loan is taken from a a NON-US Bank, then it is not Tax deductible in the US. As they do not send out a 1040.
I am not sure thats correct.
Per IRS regulation Section 163 (C), as well as Publication 936, interest paid on primary and secondary residences up to an aggregate one million dollars in loan amount is tax deductible. The IRS regulation does not specify that the home must be located in the United States, and thus it seems logical that interest paid on a home loan on property in India is in fact deductible
(please consult your tax advisor for applicability to your specific tax situation).
But I hope this should answer some questions

Guys, please continue to leave voice messages, emailing & faxing those idiots at Atlanta PERM center who moved the staff to do other work like processing h2b cases. We need to be persistent if we need any positive outcome. Would those idiots who reassigned staff to do other work, now turn around and help us be reassigining more staff to clear the backlogs? We need to keep questioning them and bombard them with emails, fax and phone calls. If you are stuck at Atlanta PERM backlog center , please email your case number and explain them that your application has been pending for a LONG time and request them to help us get out of this grave situation. Also, please post on this thread after you have sent an email so that others can be motivated to do the same. We need to send as many emails as possible to get any positive feedback. I know that DOL mentioned that they will start processing our applications soon, but we need to keep up the pressure from our end so that it has some positive effect.
I know most of the people on this forum are not in this situation ..... but let's see how many can come out of this selfishness and help others by emailing / phoning DOL Atlanta to help other brothers who want to file AOS just like them...... When phone campaigns / email campaigns happen .... we who are stuck at Atlanta help others tooo... so let's see how many on this form help us now...

I have been on a monthly contributions program that contributes every month to IV since JAN 2007. If this effort requires the money now, is there a way I can divert the monthly to this effort for the next 3 months. Or should I cancel my monthly contribution and just donate a lump sum for this effort?
