Often, when there is a great concentration of businesses focused on a specific industry in a particular geographic location, the area is called the "Silicon Valley" of and then you fill in the blank. That's a tribute to Silicon Valley in Northern California which is the home to many of America's great tech companies - Google, Apple, Intel, etc. For example, Charlotte is the Silicon Valley of banking. Nashville is the Silicon Valley of hospital firms. Well, it turns out the actual Silicon Valley is the Silicon Valley for America's ping-pong talent. All of those immigrant tech workers who came...

My employer(hospital)filed for the PERM processing and paid the fees for it.It was subsequently approved with an audit.I filed for the I-140 in May 2008.The lawyer who was recommended by the employer did not give me the receipt number, nor the receipt.I was just told that it is pending approval. What are other people's experiences do you usually get a copy of the receipt?I was expecting to get it as I paid for the I-140 filing?I just want it so that I can keep tracking it on the uscis website.
Thanks.
Thanks.

A traitorous American general hanged for aiding the British during the Revolutionary War -- one Benedict Arnold -- said rather cynically: "Law is whatever is boldly asserted and plausibly maintained." This quote came to mind in scanning the latest developments in dysfunctional immigration: With a rider passed by the House to a defense appropriations bill, Congress is poised to approve the phased elimination of the U.S. military's "Don't Ask. Don't Tell" policy. House leaders champion its action as a long-overdue recognition of the civil rights of gay soldiers. Yet the civil rights of binational gay lovers -- trashed by the...

Republicans who think Hispanic voters really are just the same as every other group and don't care about immigration are dead wrong. Most Americans don't think much about immigration and rank it way down on the list of pressing issues. And they're mixed on how they feel about it. But Hispanics - swing voters in numerous states - are fired up on this issue. When they turn out in big numbers (like in 2008), states that should be reliably red (Indiana, Virginia) go blue. The smart Republican GOP contenders (Jeb Bush, Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump) are making it clear that...

Hello all:
My friend currently is in his home country. He worked with H1-b before, and left US because of being laid off (could not found a new job in time). His question is if he can apply for B2 and go to the US first, then stay in US looking for a job. After getting an offer, transfer his previous H1-b to a new company. Can he do like that? Thanks!
